Mothering by Instinct

This is my mothering style...mothering by instinct. I've pretty much quit reading my "What to Expect the First Year" book and I don't bank on those "this month in your child's development" emails anymore. What I do is just fine...and my baby's progressing just fine.

I have figured out that alot of decisions I make as to the way to do things is simply to make me feel better. X-man couldn't care less about some of these things.

For instance, X-man's been on solids for about a month and a half and we started with veggies. I waited until this week to start fruits. X-man wouldn't have cared one way or the other...I don't think he'll turn down food. But it made me feel better to think that he'd do better with the veggies if we had him on those for a while before starting fruits.

And when I did start fruits, I decided to make them breakfast so that he'd still be getting veggies in the evening. I wouldn't want him to forget about the veggies! By the way, we tried applesauce this morning...yum-o!

I guess now I can truely relate to the saying, "If mamma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!"
