Bits and Pieces

Here's a quick little New Year's post (yes, I know that it's already the 6th...it's 1:30 am and I'm wide awake...bear with me). It's the first line from the first post of the month. Should be fun!

January - I'm telling you, X-man has a sixth sense to tell when we have company in the house.

February - No, I'm not cleaning my house (I should, but there are other...more fun...things to do!).

March - I finally finished X-man's baby blanket...well, except for a few loose ends I need to weave back in. *I still haven't woven in those ends...sheesh! ~snarfle

April - My sister pointed out this belt (from Chico's...love that store!) to me at Christmas.

May - This sock was a bear to make, but I was so determined to finish it that no amount of frogging (that's rip it, rip it, rip it out) would stop me.

June - It's been about 30 hours since I got the positive on the pregnancy test.

July - I love free stuff (who doesn't?) and every little bit helps, right?

August - Today is the last day of the summer session of Children's Day Out, so I made little thank you gifts for X-man's teachers (and the program director because she's really sweet!).

September - Yes, X-man's lazy parents finally got his sandbox put together.

October - I had my 21 week check up on Monday.

November - This card was inspired by the creator of Papertrey Ink, Nichole Heady.

December - X-man has finally gotten over his fever (I hope I haven't jinxed it!).

Ok, so it wasn't as interesting as I thought it was gonna be, but it was fun to look through old posts!

Sharing the Love

Kristin sweetly gave me this award so I'm going to share the love with others that have touched me!

First, is PitterPatter. She and I have been through our ups and downs (what best friends haven't!) and I'm happy to say that we've been in up-mode for quite a long time now. She lives in another state and I don't talk to her nearly as much as I ought to, but I think about her every day (like today when I drew a little treble clef on X-man's drawing board).

Next, to ^starshine at If I can ever get out of my pajamas. She is the wife of TC's bestest friend. And she and TC are friends, too. Anyway, she is a friend I "inherited" when TC and I got married and I am so happy for that! She's crafty like me (though she is much more talented than I...that girl can draw like no one's business!) and understands a girl's need for little crafty things (like ribbon!). She's the kind of girl that I would definitely be friends with had I met her on my own!

Then to Kimberly who has moved to China (from the US) on a faith mission (I think I got that right). It is so interesting to read about getting used to the culture, language and people in a whole new country. She would definitely tell you not to eat the pea-flavored Cheetos! I'm just so inspired by her and her family's decision to move across the globe.

Seven Random Things meme

I was tagged by Amanda and I'm feeling in a sharing mood today...

You know how this works. Seven random facts/habits about yourself. Tag someone else. Blah, blah, blah.

1. I am constantly correcting the TV and radio for the incorrect use of "I" versus "me." There's a quick little test to see if you're supposed to say X and I or X and me (ex: TC and I want to have another baby. So, is it I want... or Me want... X-man likes to play with daddy and me. Is it ...play with me or ...play with I. Easy!) and I have to use it myself sometimes!

2. I'm a sucker for reality shows. Not the find-me-a-mate kinds, but Survivor, Amazing Race, Apprentice, American Idol, Real World (and all the variations of that) and the Mole (although I'm sure they're never going to do that show again). I'm sure I'll be watching the newest Pirate Adventure by the same people that do Survivor.

3. I love grapefruit with a little salt on it.

4. I hate folding laundry.

5. I am totally in love with X-man!

6. I love to watch the rain and listen to thunderstorms. I used to stand at the back door with my dad (and my blanket and watch doggie - a doll) and watch it rain. Now I love standing at the front door with X-man and just watching it rain! It smells so good and it's so relaxing. Just don't throw in tornadic activity! That will completely ruin the relaxing part!

7. I love playing my flute in church. There's always something nice about people telling you how they love your playing!

How was that for random? (And I think I actually gave you 8 random facts! Bonus!)I'm not going to tag anyone, so if you are so inclined, let us know some random facts about yourself.

Huh?

Ok, I understand the Google search for "weird interesting sites" but who's looking for "infant snarfle breathing?" What exactly is snarfle breathing?

Peek-a-boo! I see you!

*Just as a pre-post, I haven't been at weffriddles since Saturday. I've been stamping cards! Woohoo!*

It's Thursday and I just found out it's National Delurking Week. I almost missed it again!! If you're a lurker, just say "hi" already. And while you're at it, why not say hi over on some other blog where you lurk? It could be fun!

Of course, if you ask me, National Delurking Week sounds like a blatant attempt to get more comments.

Today is X-man's otologist appointment. It's at 1:30 which is about the time he usually goes down for a nap so that nap will be totally screwed. And he really needs the naps! Two nights ago he talked (and sometimes cried) off and on from the time we put him to bed until about 12:30. And then yesterday while he was eating dinner I saw him turn into a lump right before my eyes. When I took him out of the highchair, he was warm. I'm not sure if he was actually running a fever or not because he wouldn't let me take his temperature. But all evening he just rested in my lap or on my shoulder. And then last night he waited until 1:30 to start talking. He's sleeping now and I expect he'll be up by 7:30. He'll be hungry!

Bits and Pieces

I got this idea from Mama C-Ta and she tells where she got the idea.

Basically, instead of a What-Happpened-In-2006 post (which can get out of hand really fast!), this is the first sentence from the first post of the month. Very interesting if you ask me!

January - Um...is that an allusion to the Beastie Boys?

February - Yesterday on my way home from work, I stopped at the pharmacy to pick up a few things and decided that I'd get some more hard candies for my hospital bag since I raided the lemon drops.

March - Our internet connection comes and goes and that really frustrates me.

April - Well, I went a little crazy at SuperCuts yesterday.

May - Well, X-man is the epitome of efficiency.

June - No, that wasn't one of the words in last night's spelling bee, but it sure is fun to say, isn't it?

July - Hey girl! We need your girls for a baby-proofing session!

August - My sister and parents were here for the weekend.

September - I just had the most delicious chicken salad sandwich ever!

October - I was sitting in orchestra at church yesterday and as I was putting up, I heard someone call my name.

November - I met the Diva-Me last night.

December - Yahoo for my birthday and leftover cake!!

If you are so inclined, you can read the actual post by clicking on the month link. If you decide to do this, too, leave me a link in the comments!

Me? Weird?

I've been tagged by Becky. I called her Groovy in high school. Do with that what you want...

RULES: There are some rules, but you probably know them so I won't bother you with them. And if I tag you, do what you want... By the way, this is a "six weird things" mememe.

1. I've become insanely anal about where all the pacifiers are. There has to be one in the diaper bag at all times. I do not want to be out in public and not have a pacifier should we need one. There's also one that's clipped to the car seat. There needs to be one in the crib, but that's really a throwback to the time when he needed to be calmed back to sleep at night. And the one in the crib has to be "crib-approved." The ones in the diaper bag and on the car seat are not crib-approved. Then there's the fourth one that stays on the side table next to the rocker in the living room. This one is crib-approved so if it ends up in the crib for a while, it's ok.

2. I have to eat pretzels and mini-marshmallows two at a time. I'm sure it has to do with chewing symetrically.

3. I can't watch movies, tv shows, etc., over and over and over. It drives me crazy because I already know what's going to happen! There are a few shows that I will make exceptions for: Friends reruns, Buffy the Vampire Slayer reruns, The Saint (with Val Kilmer...oh la la!!!) and The Princess Bride...oh, and all musicals fall in the exception list. I can sing to them, so I stay a bit more involved even if I know the plot already! This being said, I'm not one that can quote movie lines very well.

4. I don't like to sit on a warm seat. It's not the germs that bother me. There's just something about my heiny sitting in a seat warmed by your heiny

5. My second and third toes on both feet are webbed. But only up one knuckle. And yes, my footprint shows all 5 toes inspite of what TC says.

6. I can't stand for the sheets on the bed to cover up my head. Actually it's my nose I don't like having covered. If I must have the sheets over my head because it's light outside or because it's cold, I have to carefully create a hole for my nose so I'm not breathing warm air. Warm air makes me claustrophobic.

Ok, I'm tagging whomever wants to be tagged. So, if you're feeling up to it, go ahead...share your weirdness with the 'net!

Referrals

Sarah over on Solipsist gets a great listing of referrals...

and I get someone searching for...

pregnancy -1 station 50% effaced how long

My goodness people! Why didn't you ask the doc that determined you were at -1 and 50%?!?

Tuesday, August 29, 2006

I know it's only Tuesday...

And Solipsist goes through her referrals on Friday, but this was just too good (or too bad) to pass up.

Ok, we'll warm up with the first one:

Smooshed-face wax lion: I'm assuming you're a fan of Wonderfalls. While I don't have a smooshed-face one, my friend K did get me a wax lion for my birthday last year!

And here's the kicker:

crochet catheter bag pattern: Ewww! I HATE CATHETERS!!!!! But kudos to you for wanting to dress up the hospital room a bit. And no, I don't have a pattern for this, but I imagine you could alter a water bottle pattern and make it work. Or, just find a pattern for a little purse and go from there! And please, post a picture of the finished project (just not in actual use).
