You can donate online at www.redcross.org. The Salvation Army is also taking donations. Of course, your local chapters of both of these places will take donations for the hurricane victims as well.
And remember, some of you may work for companies that match charitable gifts. You can make your donation go twice as far. Be sure to check with your HR department to see if they have a matching gift program.
My heart goes out to everyone affected by the hurricane. And then to hear about looting and charity scams just makes me sad...

I just wish there was more I could do. I know they need the money but I still feel helpless.
And I've been recruited to find out what relief efforts are going on here...since I have the e-list of all the area fundraisers.
You could check with your local Methodist church. They're taking up supplies like medication, toiletries and things like that...
Yep! I just took a bunch of stuff to the FUMC here. They are taking a truck to a church in Louisiana today and taking another load on Sunday. I got a list of stuff they need and will get it tomorrow so I can drop it off on Sunday.
