Two Weeks!

First, some of you may be interested in this:

On Valentine's Day last week, Buttercup turned one week old. And tomorrow, she'll be two weeks old! Our lives have changed so much in these two weeks and it's hard to keep track of it all!

To start with, I really missed X-man while I was in the hospital. I didn't really get to say goodbye when he left with our friends, but that's because my OB was there to break my water and I was ready to get the show on the road. So, when he came up to the hospital on Saturday, I was really happy to see him and I think he was happy to see me. When we all got home on Saturday, there were lots of people milling around (my parents, TC's parents and his sister and neice...not to mention X-man and Buttercup). Saturday evening after X-man's bath, I was changing his diaper and it just hit me how BIG he was all of the sudden! He's never been really big and I always saw him as being so little. But that night? His legs were huge as I was holding them up to change his diaper. His hands were huge; his head was huge; his hair wasn't nearly as soft as Buttercup's; he was so heavy! He was fussing while I was changing his diaper (he says "no" to pretty much everything these days and that's what kind of mood he was in at that time) and his crying and his big-ness really got to me and made me cry. Man, hormones are rough! Thankfully, he seems to have gotten back to his old "small" self, but he's definitely not my little baby anymore. He's my big boy!

The Monday after Buttercup was born, X-man turned two! And man is he a two-year-old! He likes to say "no" and sometimes I can tell he's saying it just to be silly. He's picked up several new words as well: toy, boy, girl, play, talking (that's what sister does when she is fussing...we told him she was talking so he doesn't get upset with her crying! And if you ask her what she's saying, he says, "please.")

I'm so thankful that my mom has been able to come up and stay with us for two weeks (she goes home this weekend). I'll eventually get the hang of going out with both of them by myself, but it has been nice with the extra set of hands. It's almost like they're weening me away from the help...mom and TC were here last week, TC went back to work this week so it's just been mom during the day and then next week I'm on my own.

Now, if I could only figure out how to get that silly sling to work, I'd be set (yes, ^starshine, I do intend to call you and see if we can get it figured out...when I put Buttercup in it, she bends at her side and looks very uncomfortable. I'm sure there's something I'm missing.).

She's beautiful!!! I was so excited to see a picture of Avery posted! Yaheee!! :) I bet things are hectic around your house...trying to get everything figured out. I know how nervous I am about that. I hope it's all going well though and gets easier as time goes on.

So glad to hear that things are going well in the snarfle house. It is a touch overwhelming to think "I'm going to be left alone...with TWO kids???" You'll get the hang of it and it will be easy peasy!!

As far as the sling goes...we'll get it workin' for ya!!

I'm glad things are going well and that you've had lots of help! You'll be used to being on your own in no time (not that I have any experience in the multi-kid department, but I remember being scared for the extra help to leave and then it all turned out fine!) She is so precious! And so is X-man of course!

She is just as cute as can be! And X-man looks thrilled to be a big brother! You'll get used to 2--your first outings may take a while, but it will get easier!

she's thinking, "flute? or clarinet? or flute? or maybe clarinet... or PIANO?!?"
