Observations from the Momma

Wow! I sure am hormonal today! I was in the drive-thru at Starbucks for a Pumpkin Latte and felt the Little Pebble kicking. I almost cried. What in the world? It was like the little one was saying, "Here I am momma. Just chillin' in here!" I've been feeling the baby move for several weeks now and at first it was a good way. I mean, there's a PERSON in there!!! And I'm going to start spreading the word that baby kicks feel like muscle twitches, too. I've never seen that description anywhere (just bubbles and flutters) and I think it aptly describes what's going on.

Lately, though, I'm just overwhelmed with awe every time s/he kicks. Could have something to do with the fact that the Little Pebble was extremely quiet on Tuesday. Very relieved to feel kicks again. However, I'm not so awestruck with the cartwheels. Or somersaults. Or whatever they are. That's the only thing I can guess it is. It feels like my stomach has dropped out. Or suddenly gone empty. Weird. And last night after dinner (I ate too much), I think the baby was kicking my intestines or colon. We could not get home fast enough.

More proof of my hormonalness was after I got back on the road to work, my radio station played the new Carrie Underwood single ("Some Hearts" I think). It's about how lucky she is to be with this one person and how her heart has never been so happy. Well, I know it's probably about a boy, but I was applying it to my little baby. Am I the only one to do that? Listen to a love song and imagine me singing it to my baby? I'm ok if I am...I'm openly crazy.

The pumpkin lattes are like a little pumpkin pie...with coffee!

And I think twitches are much more accurate for me!

I used to read the sweetest little Dr. Seuss book "Oh the places you'll go" written to be read to your baby in utero. It is so sweet and fun to read. I would even read it when I was in line at a fast food restaraunt.

I did the same thing (and still do)when I hear love songs. Love songs work for babies too! It can make you very emotional (even when you're not pregnant anymore). Having a baby is the greatest! I'm so excited for you to meet yours!

By the way, I read that Dr. Seuss book to Eli in utero too. It's really sweet. Plus, he did his first kick where Justin got to feel it when we read that book.
