Pickle Problem

We are currently iced in. The news stations have been calling it Ice Storm 2007. And I just got an email from a friend of ours that church is cancelled tomorrow due to the weather! Wow!

Anyway, I made hamburgers for dinner tonight. I made 'em with half sausage/half hamburger (a la PitterPatter and her hubby) and they were delish. As TC was putting pickles on his hamburger, he said, "X-man, ask mamma to tell you her pickle story from elementary school."

Here goes:

I love school food (except for steak fingers and fish sticks...blech!). Jackson Elementary was where I first experienced this kind of food. Occasionally they would have slushies. Well, they were actually cups of frozen juice and you had to use your fork to break up the ice. I loved 'em!

On one April 1st, I was excited to see those yummy cups lined up at the end of the counter. I purchased one and took it to my table. Toward the end of lunch (you had to wait in order for them to melt a little) I got after the slushie with my fork. At the first taste, I knew something was wrong.

It was frozen pickle juice! The lunch ladies thought it was funny, but I didn't.

After telling X-man the quick version of this story, TC said, "And then mamma gave the pickle slush to Billy somebody!"

Um, no honey, Billy Fetchtelkotter was the guy I thought was cute! I don't remember what boy ended up with the gross pickle slush. I just remember him liking it!

Gross!

Fetchtelkotter? No way that's a real name--or is it? It's fabulous, whatever it is. :)

I'm not sure if that's how you spell his name, but that's the name I remember...
